Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy

Myofascial trigger point therapy is a safe way to help with muscle pain and improve range of motion.

Are you suffering from: Migraines & Headaches, Tendonitis, Bursitis, Chronic Neck and Back Pain, Stress, Plantar Fasciitis, or Chronic Muscular Tension and Pain?

Myofascial trigger point therapy is a safe and drug free way to relieve the symptoms of these and many forms of pain related to muscles and body mechanics dysfunctions.

Contact Us to learn more about how myofascial trigger point therapy can be of benefit to you.

What is myofascial trigger point therapy?

Trigger point therapy involves stimulating myofascial (muscle and connective tissue) trigger points that often refer pain sensations to other parts of the body.

This means pain is experienced in areas located away from the trigger point.  The ‘referred pain’ is often dull, aching, or deep.  A problem with a trigger point in the back can result in shoulder pain for example.

Trigger point therapy employs manual compression of the trigger point after it is located within the muscle fiber. This therapy does not involve the use of lotions or oils. Instead pain patterns are identified, and the involved muscles are treated.  Muscle range of motion testing, postural evaluation, active stretching, and myofascial release are some of the techniques and/or processes involved with trigger point therapy.  It is a specific and clinical modality in its approach to acute and chronic pain treatment

How can trigger point therapy benefit me?

The goals of myofascial trigger point therapy include reducing pain, improving muscle range of motion, and determining (and thereby helping mitigate) any perpetuating factors that are keeping you in pain.

Body mechanics at work or at home, posture, and poor nutrition are examples of perpetuating factors.   Myofascial trigger point therapy is an interactive pain management protocol wherein postural evaluations and muscular pain patterns are taken into account.  Trigger point compression, myofascial release, and stretching exercises relating to targeted muscles are involved with this therapy.
