CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy is a treatment developed after extensive scientific
studies from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University. Osteopathic physician
John E. Upledger, a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics developed
this gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the
craniosacral system.
Using a soft touch, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral
system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, resulting in
effective treatment of many conditions, including chronic fatigue, chronic neck
pain, chronic back pain, scoliosis, TMJ, and more. CranioSacral Therapy has also
been used in stress management.

Therapy can be of benefit to you.
What is CranioSacral Therapy?
The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth, which make up the cranium, down to the sacrum, or tailbone area.
Since this vital system influences the development and performance of the brain
and spinal cord, an imbalance or restriction in it could potentially cause any
number of sensory, motor or neurological disabilities. These problems could
include chronic back pain, eye difficulties, scoliosis, motor-coordination
impairments, chronic neck pain, learning disabilities, chronic fatigue, and
other health challenges.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle method of detection and correction that encourages your own natural healing mechanisms to dissipate negative effects of stress on your central nervous system.
How can CranioSacral Therapy benefit me?
CranioSacral Therapy strengthens your body’s ability to take better care of you. It helps alleviate a range of illness, pain and dysfunction including:
- Headaches and Migrane Headaches
- Chronic Neck Pain and Chronic Back Pain

- Infantile Disorders

How is CranioSacral Therapy performed?
Using a light touch, generally no
more than the weight of a nickel, the practitioner monitors the rhythm of the
craniosacral system to detect potential restrictions and imbalances. The
therapist then uses delicate manual techniques to release those problem areas
and relieve undue pressure on the brain and spinal cord.
